Active vs Passive Income
For a blogger there are two types of income - Active or Passive
For my current thousand dollar experiment I’ll categorise the income channel this way.
| Active | Passive |
|---|---|
| PayPerPost | Google Adsense |
| Sponsored Reviews | Text link ads |
| Review Me | Nuffnang |
Of course you can read the freshblogger or problogger articles to know more about active vs pasive income. I don’t need to explain it here. The bulk of the money still comes from paid reviews like PayPerPost and I think it’s not too good to rely too much on any one source of income only.
I am pushing to increase my passive income like Adsense to be slightly higher this month. Probably, one way to do that is to reactivate as many of my old blogs as possible (I have over 20 !) and start to make some postings there. Another indirect advantage is that these blogs once the are more than 90 days can be added part of my PayPerPost blogs. Sort of what like 5xmom is doing by posting the lesser value paid postings on her less significant blogs.

Wow 20 blogs! Thems a lotta blogs! You should remember though that not ALL blogs are suitable for Adsense. If you activate ALL your old blogs suddenly and there’s a spike in your page impressions, there is the very real possibility you will be smart-priced. If that happens, you might very well find yourself earning 2 cents per click for months! I’d suggest a slower approach, reactivating your blogs gradually and making sure you use channels to track your earnings.
I’ve found that in Adsense, less ads can mean MORE money!

Thanks for the heads up. I didn’t know about that.
Anyway reactivating would just mean fixing the adsense code to add some channels.
Those blogs are really old and some of the last posts are over a year old! I’d like to post one or two artcles in them to breathe some life back into them. Anyway, I think they won’t increase my page impression by much.
I just want to get the channels right because sometimes I get Adsense income but cannot track which site it came from.
